Chase Field’s History/ Chase Field Construction and Cost
The preparations for the construction of Chase Field started after the Arizona Diamondbacks were formed as part of 1995 MLB expansion. As a result Maricopa County proposed building a new stadium based on public funding. However, due to budget differences and lack of funds, people of the county protested against this. This resulted in Mary Rose Wilcox, the supervisor of the County being attacked in August 1997. Nevertheless, the construction of the park started in 1996 and it concluded before the team’s first season in 1998. Bank One from Chicago bought the naming rights of the stadium for 30 years for a $100 million deal. The stadium was opened to the public on March 31, 1998. In 2005, JPMorgan Chase & Co. took over Bank One and the stadium was named to Chase Field. For this, JPMorgan Chase & Co. decided to pay $3 million per year.

There are also two well known restaurants for fans in the stadium. The Arizona Baseball Club Restaurant can be used by only those with suit tickets. However, Friday's Front Row Sports Grill is available for everyone. For kids, there is an interactive digital suite, a playhouse, a baseball cage and a mini damond field complete with mascots.
