The Oakland Athletics, also known as the A's, are a professional baseball team based in Oakland, California as of October 2024. They were established in 1901 as one of the original eight charter franchises of the American League. The team initially played in Philadelphia before moving to Kansas City in 1955 and finally settling in Oakland in 1968.

Since their establishment, the Oakland Athletics have competed as a member club of the American League. In 1969, they joined the West Division. The team has had a rich history and has seen some of baseball's greatest individual achievements from its players. 45 of its players and managers have been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. For many years, the team played its home games at the Oakland Coliseum, starting in 1968. However, starting in 2025, they have plans to temporarily move to Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, California, for three seasons. After that, they will permanently relocate to Las Vegas.
