Billy Amick is an American infielder who is playing his final year of college with the Tennessee Volunteers and is projected to go early in the 2024 MLB Drat. He began his high school baseball career at the P27 Academy where he was a member of the regional championship. He was ranked inside the Top 350 after graduating from P27 Academy and signed a letter of intent with Clemson University. Amick embarked on his collegiate baseball journey with Clemson Tigers where he struggled to see any form of action in his freshman year.
In 2022, he hit .105 with one run scored in nine games with only 19 plate appearances. After the conclusion of his rookie campaign, Amick played for Lexington in the Coastal Plain League where he slashed .265 with seven doubles, two home runs, a triple and 22 RBIs in 38 games. Last year as a sophomore, Amick was one of the breakout stars in college baseball and earned a starting role for the Tigers. He recorded a slash line of .413/.464/.773 with 37 hits, 17 doubles, 13 homers and 63 RBI and was named a first-team All-American for his outstanding campaign. He became one of the hard hitters in 2023 and decided to transfer to Tennessee Volunteers over Florida, North Carolina and Texas A&M for his final year of college. This year, Amick slashed .351/.432/.776 with 47 hits, 16 homers, seven doubles and 42 RBIs. Amick is ranked as one of the top amateur third basemen in the country and won the 2024 Men’s College World Series with his new team. Amick has the potential to go as high as the first round in the 2024 MLB Draft.
