Caleb Lomavita is an American right-handed hitting catcher who concluded his junior year of college at the University of California. He started his baseball career at Saint Louis High School where he led them to the Interscholastic Honolulu League Championship in his senior year. Lomavita was named 2020-21 Hawaii Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year after compiling a 4-0 record with a 1.71 ERA and 30 strikeouts. He played as a catcher, outfielder, and pitcher for the Crusaders and was widely considered to be the top MLB draft prospect but went undrafted in 2021. Lomavita enrolled with the University of California in 2022.
The super athletic catcher from Honolulu earned a starting role in California and made an instant impact in his freshman season. In 2022 as a rookie, Lomavita slashed a line of .272/.345/.414 with 63 runs, 10 doubles, and seven homers in 55 games. He was selected as to the All-Pac 12 first team and was named Freshman All-American. The following year as a sophomore, Lomavita slashed .316/.367/.612 with 13 doubles, 16 home runs, and 43 RBIs. He also has great athleticism as a catcher and showcases a rigid approach at the base. Lomavita is a catching prospect through and through and is arguably one of the top prospects in the 2024 MLB Draft and will likely go in the first round.
