Can I bypass MLB.TV restrictions by changing my location? Potential workarounds to resolve geoblock

Seattle Mariners v Cleveland Guardians
Legions of fans have chosen to catch action from around the league on MLB.TV

For baseball fans who prefer to stream the action, MLB.TV provides a very solid option. However, blackout restrictions continue to frustrate several subscribers.

For a monthly price of $24.99, subscribers to the service can stream every single out-of-market game. They can also watch Minor League Action as well as pre- and post-game coverage through local broadcast syndication.

Some telecommunications providers, such as T-Mobile, have even announced that their users will be able to avail of the service through the 2028 season.

Although MLB.TV is a dream come true if you're a San Francisco Giants fan who lives in Miami, it is not ideal for fans who want to use the platform to watch their home-town team.

"@MLBTV Can you please tell me what the point of having an MLB TV subscription is if I can't even watch my own team due to blackout restrictions. #WhatsThePoint #Pointless" - Not Dan Dickerson

Due to the fact that many local providers are heavily invested in showing MLB games, MLB.TV does not provide local broadcasts. This has been done in an effort to avoid the popular streaming service undercutting local broadcast viewership.

Unfortunately, MLB makes it very difficult to bypass these restrictions. The potential lost revenue for local broadcasters is enough for the streaming site to to come down pretty hard.

Luckily, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) are an excellent way to circumvent the blackout rules and view your favorite team. By relocating your IP address to a different city, region, or country, VPNs essentially tell MLB.TV's location networks that you're in a different location.

Sean O'Connor, an Oakland Athletics fan living in Guam, recently spoke about his use of a legal VPN so that he can watch his favorite team. O'Connor is able to use a VPN despite the fact that the A's are subject to blackout restrictions on the overseas US Territory.

Legal VPNs like NordVPN, Surfshark, IPVanish, and ExpressVPN are all excellent ways for fans to get in on the action. As with everything online, caution is advised when dealing with internet safety.

MLB.TV continues to offer fans one of the best deals around

As far as streaming services go, MLB.TV is hard to beat. From thousands of games every season to unmatched color coverage, fans now know how to also catch their favorite team live.
