A Brookwood High School graduate, Mullins excelled at Louisburg College with a perfect 4.0 grade point average (GPA) before shining at Campbell University. Drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2015, he quickly climbed the minor league ranks, earning the nickname "Parking Lot Ced" for his towering home runs. He was an All-Star in 2021, won the Silver Slugger Award the same year, and also made it to the 30–30 club in 2021.
