Hailing from Dallas, Texas, United States, Clayton Edward Kershaw has been a mainstay of the Los Angeles Dodgers since the beginning of his career. Going by the nickname “Kersh”, he was a varsity baseball player at Highland Park High School. He was then drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers with the #seventh overall pick in the 2006 MLB draft and started his professional career with the GCL Dodgers. He finally made his MLB debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 25, 2008.

Clayton Kershaw won the MLB World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2020. Moreover, he has 10 NL All-Star awards from his 10 MLB All-Star games. Additionally, he is notable for being a five-time NL ERA leader, three-time NL strikeout leader, and three-time NL wins leader. He has also won the NL Cy Young Award three times so far.

Clayton Kershaw's Injury History

Clayton Kershaw is listed on the 40-man roster for the Los Angeles Dodgers as per the MLB official site. More recently, he suffered from a sore big toe on August 31, 2024. This eventually resulted in a left big toe inflammation, due to a bone spur that Clayton Kershaw has been suffering from for a couple of years. Dave Roberts, the manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers revealed that he uses preventative treatment to control his pain. The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed him on the 15-day injured list and he will require treatment to control his left toe inflammation. He is expected to make his comeback in the 2025 MLB season.

Mild disc herniation

Clayton Kershaw suffered from a mild disc herniation on June 27, 2016, as per the MLB official site. He had been suffering from back issues for some time and was undergoing treatment but later he experienced more discomfort. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list on July 1, 2016. He received an epidural injection as part of his treatment for the problem. Unfortunately, he had to be placed on the 60-day disabled list by the Los Angeles Dodgers on August 3, 2016. He was finally activated on September 9, 2016.

Left bicep tendinitis

Clayton Kershaw suffered from left bicep tendinitis on May 3, 2018, as per the MLB official site. He suffered from the issue while playing catch as per ESPN. Then, he had to undergo an MRI which revealed the bicep tendinitis on his pitching arm. As a result, the Los Angeles Dodgers placed him on the 10-day disabled list on May 6, 2018, and again activated him on May 31, 2018.

Left shoulder inflammation

Clayton Kershaw suffered from a left shoulder inflammation on March 25, 2019, as per the MLB official site. He left the game against the Colorado Rockies in the sixth inning after feeling his shoulder to be a little cranky. It was revealed that he had suffered from a left shoulder inflammation which led to his discomfort. However, he received an injection to help with the problem instead of undergoing an MRI. The Los Angeles Dodgers had to place him on the 10-day injured list. They again activated him on April 15, 2019.

Right SI Joint Inflammation

Clayton Kershaw suffered from a right SI joint inflammation on May 9, 2022. His joint locked up while the team was on a flight back to Los Angeles. While his MRI testing did not reveal any structural damage, he had to receive an epidural injection for treatment as per the MLB official site. As a result, he was placed on the 15-day injured list by the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 13, 2022, and was activated on June 11, 2022.
