Slider, the mascot for the Cleveland Guardians, was introduced to the fans on July 29, 1990, as per the MLB official site. He is a furry creature who resembles the Phillie Phanatic of the Philadelphia Phillies. The only difference is that he is purple and pink in color and he wears a white Cleveland Guardians jersey.

As per MLB's official website, the concept for this mascot goes to Dennis Lehman, who was the executive vice president of the Cleveland Indians. He had earlier spent two decades with the Philadelphia Phillies and had noticed how successful the Phillie Phanatic was. Therefore, on joining the Cleveland Indians, he decided to create a mascot for the team, which resulted in the introduction of Slider. Lehman has described his creation as a “big fat furball.” Dan Kilday is notable for performing the role of Slider since his inception.

He is often regarded as one of the oldest mascots in MLB and became a Mascot Hall of Famer in 2008 as per Mascot Hall of Fame.
