Hailing from Waverly, Iowa, United States, Andrew Jay Hinch started out as a baseball player in high school and then played college baseball Stanford University. He was later drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 1996 and made his debut with the team in 1998. However, he left them two years later and went on to play for the Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies till 2004.
Post A.J. Hinch’s career as a player, he embarked on a managerial role that he started with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2009 and continued till 2010.
