Representing the Detroit Tigers as of 2024, Andrew Jay Hinch's baseball journey started at Midwest City High School and then continued at Stanford University. After which he went on to represent Team USA in international tournaments such as World Junior Baseball Championships in 1991 and 1992 where he earned a bronze medal and a silver medal respectively. Following this, he was seen with Team USA at the Summer Olympics where they clinched a bronze medal in an team effort. Later on, he plied his trade in the MLB from 1998-2004 after being drafted in 1996 by the Oakland Athletics. His career as a player saw him represent four MLB teams i.e. the Oakland Athletics, Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers and the Philadelphia Phillies over the course of a six-year career.


After retiring, he changed gears and became a manager starting with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2009-10, the Houston Astros from 2015-19 before joining the Detroit Tigers in October 2020. Remarkably, he was the World Series Champion in 2017 with the Astros but later faced criticism for the the World Series Champion in 2017.
