Salvatore Anthony “Torey” Lovullo, the 2017 NL Manager of the Year, is a former baseball player and is presently the manager for the Arizona Diamondbacks in Major League Baseball (MLB). The Detroit Tigers drafted him in the 5th round of the 1987 MLB Draft. He has also served as a member of the New York Yankees, California Angels (presently Los Angeles Angels), Seattle Mariners, Oakland Athletics, Cleveland Indians (presently Guardians) and Philadelphia Phillies in the league.

He played for teams like Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees, California Angels (Los Angeles Angels), Seattle Mariners, Oakland Athletics and completed his career by playing his last MLB game with the Philadelphia Phillies on October 3, 1999.

He also had a career with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows of the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) from March - June 2000. Since then, Torey Lovullo has acted as coach and manager of the teams in minor and major leagues. This includes his association with the Buffalo Bisons, a MiLB team that is connected with the Toronto Blue Jays. He received the highest honor awarded to an alumnus of the Buffalo Bisons, as he was inducted into the Buffalo Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003.
