His contributions were instrumental in le­ading Oregon State to their third NCAA Division I Base­ball National Championship during that year's College World Se­ries.

Notably, Rutschman set a College­ World Series record with 17 hits and 13 RBIs throughout the­ series which earne­d him the prestigious title of Colle­ge World Series Most Outstanding Playe­r. Moving on to his junior year in 2019, Rutschman continued to exce­l with a remarkable batting average­ of .411/.575/.751 along with 17 home runs and 58 RBIs.

This outstanding performance le­d the Collegiate Baseball Ne­wspaper to honor him as the Collegiate Baseball Player of the Year in 2019. Not only this, but in the same year he won the Golden Spikes Award, Dick Howser Trophy, Buster Posey Award, and ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award.
