Aaron James Judge is an American professional baseball outfielder. He is currently on the New York Yankees roster of Major League Baseball (MLB) and also serves as their captain. Born April 26, 1992, in Sacramento, California, Aaron went to Linden High School, where he played baseball, football, and basketball. Aaron played college baseball for the Fresno State Bulldogs baseball team in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) during his days at California State University, Fresno (Fresno State). The New York Yankees selected Aaron Judge in the 2013 MLB draft with their 32nd overall selection. After three years in the minors, Aaron made his MLB debut in 2016 with the pinstripes.
Since then, the current Yankees captain has not looked back, and the team has only become stronger and stronger every year. Aaron Judge is a six-time MLB All-Star player, two-time AL home run leader, AL RBI leader, and AL Rookie of the Year in 2017. Richard Schenck, also known as Teacherman, is one of Aaron Judge's private hitting coaches. He runs a baseball learning center called the Teacherman Baseball Facility in St. Peters.
Richard began working with Aaron during the 2016-17 offseason. They regularly work together in person five days a week, rallying between Arizona and California.
Richard primarily worked on Aaron's bat speed and barrel depth. With his new techniques in place, Aaron had an incredible 2017 season, averaging .179 to .284, scoring 52 runs, and leading the league with 127 walks.
Richard stated that Aaron had good bat speed. "I did not improve his bat speed, but I got his swing up to speed quicker, and therefore, he can wait longer before he has to make a commitment to a pitch. He can see the ball longer and make a better decision. The better decisions you make, the more times you're going to hit the barrel."
Richard has been credited for changing both Aaron's swing and his career. Richard continues to work with Aaron privately and is not a part of the Yankees team. Aaron values Richard's input very much and has kept him by his side for quite some time now.
