Framber Valdez is obsessed with building Churches, long before he started concentrating on developing arm power and a pitching arsenal. In the Dominican Republic, in the municipality of Sabana Grande de Palenque, his father operated a construction company, and young the Valdez became fascinated with houses and the labor-intensive process of building them from the ground up. His mother maintained a coffee shop where she served empanadas and juices.

He also accepted Christianity, and at the age of 14, he started going to a nearby church with the slogan "Camino al Cielo," which translates to "Pathway to Heaven." The church had a floor made of moldy dirt from water damage, shredded seats, and damaged music sheets. It was constructed of wood. Framber promised his father that one day he would definitely rebuild that church and now he is keeping his promise.

Framber Valdez and Hector Neris, one of the team's best relievers, organized a charity bowling night to benefit charities in the Dominican Republic and four local nonprofits in Houston. The two Astros pitchers organized the event at 810 Billiards and Bowling downtown after bringing the concept to their agency, Octagon. Funds were raised for Baker Ripley, the Greater Houston Police Activities League, The Tejano Center, and The Houston Astros Youth Academy.
