While some people may be upset about the New York Mets' exorbitant spending this offseason, Freddie Freeman is all for it. The Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman has come out in support of Steve Cohen and the Mets’ organization.
The New York Mets have been MLB's most active club during the offseason. They have brought in several top players with the aim of winning the club's first championship since 1986. Freeman believes that the Mets owner is only doing what is right for his team.

According to a recent article in the New York Post by Jon Heyman, Freeman is all for owners spending big.

Freeman recently signed a colossal six-year, $162 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Prior to the 2022 season, the 33-year-old chose to cash in and move out west.
The decision to leave the Atlanta Braves, where he spent his entire 12-year MLB career, was controversial. Freeman was a fan favorite in Atlanta and loved by the fanbase.

While the Los Angeles Dodgers have been conservative during the offseason, Steve Cohen and the Mets have invested heavily in the roster. The Mets have now overtaken the Dodgers for the largest payroll in MLB.
Three-time Cy Young winner Justin Verlander was the headline signing this offseason. Free agent pitchers Kodai Senga, David Robertson and Jose Quintana were also signed. Catcher Omar Narvaez and outfielder Tommy Pham will provide some more power to the offense.

The National League East will not be easy with the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies both looking to return to the World Series. The Mets, however, will be the team to beat this off-season.
