Has any team swept the MLB playoffs
MLB Playoffs

The playoffs in Major League Baseball (MLB) enable all 30 teams to reach the final stage - the World Series games. The teams compete with each other in the regular season to become the various division champions in their respective leagues. As for the other teams, the ones with the best records find their way to the Wild Card games in the American League (AL) and National League (NL).

Once the teams taste success in the Wild Card games, they go on to the Division Series games in their respective leagues. The teams winning the Division Series advance to the League Championship Series until two teams remain. The last two teams battle it out in the MLB World Series games to become the champion. Some teams have even won the World Series titles multiple times.

The MLB team that swept the MLB playoffs

Major League Baseball has seen only one team power through the playoffs stage to become the World Series Champions - the 1976 Cincinnati Reds team managed by Sparky Anderson. Notably, the team started the season as the reigning champion, winning their third World Series title in 1975. Throughout the regular season, the Cincinnati Reds achieved a record of 102-60 as per Champs or Chumps. This allowed them to advance into the playoffs.

1976 National League Championship Series (NLCS)

The Cincinnati Reds faced the Philadelphia Phillies during the 1976 NLCS games in the playoffs. The Philadelphia Phillies had Danny Ozark as their manager. Both teams played a best-of-three-game series from October 9, 1976, to October 12, 1976. The Cincinnati Reds swept the Philadelphia Phillies 3-0, which brought them to the final stage, the 1976 World Series games.

1976 World Series Games

Moving on to the World Series games, the Cincinnati Reds found themselves face-to-face with the New York Yankees, managed by Billy Martin. Both teams played a best-of-four-game series from October 16, 1976, to October 21, 1976, as per Champs or Chumps. The Cincinnati Reds steamrolled the New York Yankees 4-0 to become the World Series Champions for the fourth time in 1976. Players like Don Gullet, Joe Morgan, Jack Billingham, Pat Zachry, Will McEnaney, Dan Driessen, Gary Nolan, and Johnny Bench contributed to helping the Cincinnati Reds become the World Series Champions.
