Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros is one of the most celebrated players in the MLB. Like many other players around the league, behind Altuve is a supportive and loving wife.
Altuve was born in 1990 in Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, but grew up in nearby Maracay. Maracay, a coastal city of nearly 1 million people, boasts a plethora of MLB talent, from Miguel Cabrera to Salvador Perez, with many others in between.
Altuve began playing baseball as a young teenager in Maracay, and soon thereafter met a local girl named Nina. The two married in 2006, when Altuve was 16 and Nina was only 14.

The pair waited until 2016 to have their first child. Nina Altuve is a born-again Christian, a faith she shares with her husband. The pair reside in the Houston suburb of Pearland and attend an Evangelical congregation there.
Following their wedding in Venezuela, Altuve played in Venezuelan baseball leagues, fiercely competing for the attention of MLB clubs. He began attending pro tryouts in his homeland, but was often overlooked on account of his height. Jose Altuve is only 5-foot-6, making him one of the shorter players in the MLB,
Altuve's determination finally paid off, and he was signed to a contract as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Astros in 2007 for $20,000. Even then, the Astros had no idea how prescient their decision would turn out to be.
In 2012, Jose Altuve's first full season in the MLB, he hit .290 with seven home runs and 17 RBIs, earning him an All-Star designation in his rookie year. By 2014, he was becoming known as one of the most prolific hitters in all of baseball.

After hitting .346, and leading the league with 204 hits, Altuve was named the 2017 AL MVP. That very same season, the Astros won their first World Series ever, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers.
