How to turn off baserunning in MLB The Show 23? Settings Guide and other tips

Texas Rangers v Houston Astros
Baserunning is one of the most time consuming parts on MLB The Show 23, but luckily fans can adjust their settings

MLB The Show has been the premiere baseball video game for years, and by the look at the release of the latest edition, that trend will continue. On Tuesday, the newest iteration of the series hit shelves everywhere and is now available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

The series made several exciting changes and upgrades to the latest iteration of the franchise, including the introduction of two-way players and the universal DH. Another feature in the latest release is the "Storylines" mode. It allows players to play through key stories about several Negro League stars, including Satchel Paige and Jackie Robinson.

However, with all of the updates, there are some parts of the game that players rely on to maximize their gaming experience. Changing the settings to create certain gaming situations is important for some fans, including automatic baserunning, fielding, and sliding.

For some gamers, turning on automatic baserunning is a must, however, it is not without its flaws. On occasion, computer-controlled runners will make decisions that prove to be costly, including being called out on an easy play at home plate. However, automatic baserunners on The Show allow fans to simply focus solely on hitting, allowing the computer to handle stolen bases.

To change the settings, follow these simple steps:

  • Go to Options
  • Select "Gameplay"
  • Select "General"
  • Toggle to "Decisions"
  • Scroll down and turn automatic baserunners on or off
