Trevor Bauer has always been one to not shy away from speaking his mind on social media. He has given his takes on everything from foreign substances to off-field things like politics.
His teammates and fans quickly found out he was not somebody to hide his opinion, no matter how it made him look. Coming up with the Arizona Diamondbacks as a rookie in 2012, he quickly found himself in hot water.
During the 2012 presidential debate, he posted his feelings toward Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States on X, formerly known as Twitter. Bauer dug into the President, via the LA Times' Houston Mitchell.
"Obama looked childish and petty tonight. I'm ashamed that he is commander in chief of this great nation," - said Bauer.
That is quite the shot, and many took offense to his comments. He then attacked those who felt a certain way about his tweet.
"It's funny, all of them are able to give me their opinion about my opinion, but I'm not allowed to give my opinion lol" - said Bauer.
When asked about his problem with Obama during the debate, he responded quickly.
"Insulting Romney's intelligence saying we have less horses and bayonets now and ships that go under water. Also, attacking Mitt and interrupting him constantly among other things" - said Bauer.
Bauer had his reasons for insulting Obama, and he was clear with that. He speaks his mind, and while it can get under people's skin, you have to respect it.
Trevor Bauer is still looking to return to the big leagues
Trevor Bauer is still searching to return to a big league mound this season. He recently sent a post to the New York Yankees after being urged by Gary Sheffield Jr.
Bauer has stated in the past that he would sign for the league minimum and prove his worth to the ballclub that signs him. However, nobody has taken him up on that offer yet.
He pitches for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico of the Mexican League to keep himself in shape. He has gone nuclear against his competition, posting a 10-0 record while leading the league with 120 strikeouts.
He still has the talent to produce for a major league club, but his off-field drama has hurt him. Many front offices do not want to deal with that.
