After winning five World Series for the New York Yankees, Derek Jeter called time on his Hall of Fame career in 2014. However, just two years before his retirement in 2012, Jeter met Hannah Davis, who was a famous model at the time.
The couple met through a mutual friend in a New York City restaurant. While Jeter was with his friends, Hannah arrived there with her mother. Interestingly, Hannah didn't know much about Derek, let alone baseball. In a 2022 interview on ESPN's "SportsCenter," the Jeter couple shared how their first meeting went.
"There was an event at the restaurant and I just so happened to be sitting next to her mom, so I met her mom first," Jeter said.
"There was a connection from the very beginning, even though he was mostly talking to my mom, but there was that connection and I felt like he's so mysterious, I want to know more. I thought she was with someone at the time," Hannah said her side of the story.
Hannah further added that she told her mother in private to make sure she was single.
"I just remember feeling like I was dying inside. Like, I hope he didn't just hear that because I don't want to sound desperate, but... I had touched base with a friend of mine that knew her and we ended up meeting up a few days later," Hannah said.
Derek Jeter met Hannah right after he had ended a four-year relationship with actress Minka Kelly.
From meeting at a restaurant to becoming parents to four kids, Derek Jeter and Hannah have come a long way
Derek Jeter and Hannah were first spotted publicly in 2012. After three years of dating, the Yankees icon confirmed his engagement through a blog on The Players' Tribune.
"I had no idea what I was in for as a new dog owner," Derek wrote. "He was a Christmas gift last year from my fiancée, whose family had Mastiffs growing up. I've never owned a pet in my life."
From there on, the couple made regular appearances at various events, confirming their relationship status.
On July 9, 2016, Derek Jeter and Hannah wed each other at Meadowood Napa Valley Resort in St. Helena, California.
A year later, on Aug. 17, 2017, the couple welcomed Bella Raine Jeter. In January 2019, the Jeter pair added one more member, another daughter named Story Grey. Both the daughters and Hannah attended Jeter's Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
In December 2021, the couple became parents for the third time, welcoming River Rose Jeter. Their first son and fourth child, Kaius Green, was born in May 2023.
