Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is making an impact in the baseball community beyond the diamond. The Rangers star contributed to the renovations of Senter Park, a home for kids in the community aspiring to be baseball players.
Seager, a two-time World Series MVP was accompanied by his wife Madisyn as the Rangers unveiled All-Star Legacy Park on Monday.
Seager and Madisyn donated two new batting cages as the historic park saw the installation of turf for two youth baseball fields in association with the City of Arlington, Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, Optimist Club of Arlington, Graham Civil & Paragon Sports Construction.
Madisyn was beaming with pride after contributing to the community and shared a series of heartwarming pictures via her Instagram account.
She captioned one of the stories, as the duo was included in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, writing:
"The best day getting to unveil Corey Seager Batting Cages at the newly renovated Senter Park today. Can't wait to see all generations of kiddos playing on these fields."
Madisyn also shared a story to reveal the new scoreboards among all the renovations. The 2024 All-Star Legacy project ahead of the Midsummer Classic aims to provide a platform for youths from diverse and low-income communities. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred touched upon the importance of the project at the event.
He said:
“Projects like this have driven participants in baseball and softball to new heights. We are literally at a peak in terms of youth participation that bodes well for the future of the game."
Corey Seager makes it to the All-Star game for a third consecutive year
It was a special occasion for Madisyn Seager and her husband as the Rangers shortstop was added to the American League roster for the All-Star game on July 16. The announcement was made on Sunday with Corey Seager replacing Minnesota Twins' injured Carlos Correa.
Correa was ruled out of the marquee event after the former Astros star was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in his right foot after undergoing an MRI on Sunday.
Seager is the third player from the Rangers squad to make it to the All-Star game. Making his fifth All-Star appearance, Corey Seager joins Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien and reliever Kirby Yates at the Midsummer Classic.
This is Seager's third consecutive All-Star selection in his first three years with the Rangers. His other two selections were with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2016 and 2017.
