During Game 5 of the 2024 World Series, all eyes were on Yankees ace Gerrit Cole. No pair more, perhaps, than those of his loving wife, Amy. Despite the disappointing result for her husband's club, Amy recently took to social media with a message full of love.
Earlier this week, Amy's brother, Brandon Crawford, announced that he would be retiring from baseball after 14 seasons of MLB service. A two-time World Series winner with a laundry list of achievements, Amy took to social media to congratulate her brother on his long and fruitful career.
In her post, Amy claimed that it was 'an honor to watch you play the game you love' beneath a montage of significant moments from her elder brother's career. The images featured snaps from their childhoods, as well as Amy posing with her brother during his days with the San Francisco Giants.
A member of the San Francisco Giants from 2011 until 2023, Crawford won the World Series in San Francisco in 2012 and 2014. A former Silver Slugger with four Gold Glove nods at shortstop, Crawford retired with a .249/.318/.395 slashline as well as 147 homers and 748 RBIs in 1,682 career games. He played 28 games with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2024 before hanging up his glove.

In 2016, Amy Crawford married Gerrit Cole, who she met while the two were both varsity athletes at UCLA. The winner of the 2023 AL Cy Young Award with the New York Yankees, Cole and Crawford have often been pictured together at various family events.
Gerrit Cole sings Brandon Crawford's praises
Having made his MLB debut two seasons before Gerrit Cole, Crawford was often a source of support and knowledge for his brother-in-law during Cole's early career. In a message to ESPN, Cole further sang Crawford's praises:
"He has been an amazing brother to me, and an amazing role model for future shortstops and kids with championship dreams. I was lucky enough to share a few special moments with him along the way, my major league debut, our first All-Star Game, and delivering the lineup cards in Yankee Stadium"
While Crawford looks forward to a retirement spent with friends and family, for Cole, his first career World Series title remains ripe for the taking.
