It was not the season that many were expecting from James Outman in 2024. The Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder entered last season with the opportunity to capture a significant role with the club. However, the 27-year-old failed to make much of an impact at the plate.

In 53 games last season, Outman posted a disappointing .147 batting average with four home runs and 11 RBIs. Even though he opened the year as the team's starting center fielder, he soon found himself demoted to the minors for the majority of the year. His failure to capitalize on his opportunity has made him an expendable piece for the club heading into 2025.

According to MLB insider Sonja Chen, the Los Angeles Dodgers could look to unload a few players ahead of the new year, including Outman as a possible candidate to be moved. Even though they may not receive much in return, Outman should have a few clubs willing to gamble on him heading into next season.

Here's a closer look at 3 landing spots for James Outman if he is dealt by the Dodgers

#1, Tampa Bay Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays could be the ideal landing spot for a play like James Outman. The 27-year-old outfielder flashed some serious potential in 2023, finishing third in NL Rookie of the Year voting thanks to his 23 home runs, 70 RBIs and 16 stolen bases.

Not only could the Rays look to tap back into the potential, but Outman is also slated to make less than $1,000,000 in 2025, a number that the famously frugal Rays would likely be willing to gamble on.

#2, Miami Marlins

The Miami Marlins are another club that could look to take a low-risk, high-reward gamble on James Outman in 2025. The Marlins have been in a rebuilding phase for the past few seasons, trading away veterans like Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Trevor Rogers. Outman could be an untapped asset that the Marlins could look to unlock, with him potentially becoming a key piece of their future.

#3, Kansas City Royals

Unlike the Marlins, the Kansas City Royals are coming into 2025 as a serious contender in the American League. The team has done a solid job addressing some of its roster needs this offseason by acquiring the likes of Jonathan India and Michael Wacha. James Outman could be the next on that list, and if he can rediscover his 2023 form, he could also be a low-cost weapon for the Royals this year.
