Jason Heyward's time with the Los Angeles Dodgers has come to a close. The veteran slugger was designated for assignment on Thursday to open up a roster spot for Chris Taylor.
Heyward played in 63 games this season, hitting .208/.289/393 with six home runs and 28 runs batted in. That is not terrible production, but with Taylor coming back from the IL, there simply was no room.

As the trade deadline has already passed, LA must put Heyward on waivers. Now, all clubs will have a chance to acquire the slugger. But the question is, who could be interested in Heyward's services?
3 teams likely to pursue Jason Heyward
#3. Kansas City Royals
The Kansas City Royals have been a surprising team this season. They are right in the thick of things in the AL Central with their 71-56 record but could use some help down the road.
Outfield has been an area where they have not gotten the most production, and they could look at Heyward as a boost. His defense in the outfield would not hurt his chances either.
#2. Philadelphia Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies have looked strong this season. They sit in first place in the NL East but could use a push moving forward. Adding another outfield bat would really boost the front office's confidence as we inch closer to the postseason.
#1. Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves could also be a serious contender for Jason Heyward. The two sides are familiar with each other as Heyward got his start in Atlanta, and it could make for a great reunion.
While they have added some pieces during the trade deadline, Heyward could still see the field in some capacity. If Atlanta wants to bolster their roster with a great defender and somebody with postseason experience, this is their guy.
