Born on April 8, 1992, Jeff McNeil is an American professional baseball utility player for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). He goes by the nicknames "Squirrel" or "Flying Squirrel".

McNeil was chosen by the New York Mets in the twelfth round of the Major League Baseball 2013 draft. After signing, McNeil played 47 games with the Kingsport Mets, with whom he made his professional debut. He hit .329 overall. In 123 games in 2015, he slashed .308/ .369/ .377 with one home run, 40 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases with the St. Lucie and Binghamton Mets. He participated in the Arizona Fall League following the 2015 campaign. In 2018, Jeff was promoted to the Major Leagues. With the greatest batting average of any eligible major league player at the end of the 2022 regular season, McNeil was victorious in the National League hitting competition. Since José Reyes did so in 2011, he was the first Met to do so. Playing in a career-high 156 games for the team in 2023, McNeil finished with a 270/ 333/ 378 batting line along with 10 home runs, 55 RBI, and 10 stolen bases.

Due to Jeff McNeil spectacular performances he was the MLB batting champion in 2022 and the Silver Slugger Award Winner in the same year. He has also been named to two All-Star games till now in his career ( in 2019 and 2022).
