Hailing from El Cajon, California, United States, Joseph Anthony Musgrove plays for the San Diego Padres in Major League Baseball (MLB) as of October 2024. Nicknamed, "Moose", he was chosen by the Toronto Blue Jays straight out of high school as the 46th overall pick in the first round of the 2011 MLB Draft. After getting traded to the Houston Astros in a ten-player swap, he found his form in 2012. He made his Major League debut with them in 2016 and won the World Series in 2017.

Musgrove's 2021 season turned out to be a breakout year, as he set career highs in several stats, including innings pitched, strikeouts, batting average against, WHIP, and win/loss record. The Padres had not had a no-hitter in 52 years until Musgrove's April 9, 2021, no-hitter against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field. He became an All-Star the following season.
