For Jose Altuve and his wife, Neena, the 2024 offseason was different. For the first time since 2017, Altuve's club, the Houston Astros, did not make it past the first round of the postseason.

Although this was obviously disappointing for the second baseman, at least it prolonged his offseason with his long-time wife and their two daughters. Recently, Neena Altuve took to Instagram to show off some of her offseason activities.

Neena first met her husband Jose Altuve during their childhood in Maracay, Venezuela. The pair married when they were merely teenagers back in 2006, some five years before Altuve made his MLB debut for the Houston Astros. Though the pair have moved from Venezuela to the USA, the bond they forged nearly 20 years ago remains strong.

In addition to supporting her husband unconditionally, Neena Altuve keeps herself busy with a variety of charitable endeavors. Devout Christians, the Altuve family has made it a goal to help those less fortunate. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this included a donation of 60,000 meals to Kids Meals Inc in 2020. The couple also have two daughters - Melanie and Andrea.

A member of the Astros since 2011, Jose Altuve has been on the club longer than any other current player. The winner of the 2017 AL MVP Award, Altuve played pivotal roles in delivering the 2017 World Series, as well as their 2022 title.

Despite long-term success, Altuve's Astros crashed out of the AL Wild Card round in 2024 after losing to the Detroit Tigers. Although Altuve and his teammates undoubtedly would have liked to push deeper, the extended time to spend with family and loved ones represented a silver lining.

Jose Altuve awarded after yet another strong season at the plate

In June, the Astros were ten games behind the Seattle Mariners in the AL West. By September, the club led the AL West. Jose Altuve's strong season was a major reason for this. In 153 games, the 34 year-old hit .295/.350/.439 with 20 home runs and 65 RBIs, further solidifying his reputation as his club's top slugger.

While Altuve will undoubtedly enjoy his offseason, there is work to be done to ensure that Houston remains one of the best clubs in MLB. Come 2025, the second baseman will be ready.
