Born on August 12, 1996, Julio Urías, also known by his nickname "El Culichi," is a Mexican pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). Urías is the son of Juana Isabel Acosta and Carlos Urías. On August 12, when he was just sixteen years old, the Dodgers signed him.

On May 25, 2013, Urías made his professional debut in the Midwest League with the Great Lakes Loons, becoming the youngest player in the league, striking out six batters with three shutout innings. He made his Major League debut against the New York Mets on May 27, 2016. At the age of 19, he was the youngest Dodgers starting pitcher to debut since Rex Barney in 1943. In 2021, for the first time in his career, Urías started over 20 games in a season, and he had his greatest season to date. With a 20-3 record, the best in the league, with 195 strikeouts and a 2.96 ERA, he finished his 2021 campaign starting in 32 games. He recorded the most wins in the big leagues in 2021 and only the fourth 20-win season by a pitcher of Mexican descent.

Urías was a world Champion in 2020 with the Dodgers. He was the NL wins leader in 2021 and was the NL ERA leader in 2022.
