Ketel Marte was born on October 12, 1993, in Niazo, Colombia. He is a Dominican professional baseball second baseman for the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Marte was signed as an international free agent by the Seattle Mariners in August, 2010. He made his professional debut with the Dominican Summer League Mariners. He spent the next several years in the farm system of the Mariners. He was called up to the Major Leagues on July 31, 2015. However, Marte was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017. Marte began the 2017 season with the PCL's Reno Aces. On June 28, 2017, he was promoted to the Major League by the Diamondbacks. Marte was named the starting second baseman for the 2019 Major League Baseball All-Star Game after batting .316 with 20 home runs and 51 RBIs. Marte hit .287 the next season, with two home runs and 17 RBI. Marte hit a walk-off single in Game 3 of the 2023 National League Championship Series, helping the Diamondbacks win 2-1.

Ketel Marte has quite a few achievements to his name, he was the MLB triples leader in 2018 and was named to his first All-Star game in the following season. Ketel Marte is the cousin of fellow Toronto Blue Jays First Baseman, Vladimir Guerrero.
