The Los Angeles Dodgers are regarded as among the oldest Major League Baseball (MLB) teams. The team had its beginning as the Brooklyn Grays in 1883 and was originally based in New York. They went through various name changes until they settled on Brooklyn Dodgers in 1932 and kept it till the 1957 season. The team soon relocated to Los Angeles and became the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1958. Since then, they have been one of several teams from California in the league.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have built strong rivalries with several teams like the Los Angeles Angels, the San Francisco Giants, the San Diego Padres, and the Arizona Diamondbacks amongst others. Dodger Stadium has been serving as the home ground for the team every season since 1962. The team has been a part of the National League (NL) and the NL West Division.
