Luis Robert Jr. is a Cuban-born professional outfielder for the Chicago White Sox in Major League Baseball (MLB).
In November 2016, Robert Jr. left Cuba to pursue a career in Major League Baseball in the United States. On May 27, 2017, Robert Jr. inked a $26 million contract with the Chicago White Sox. He was sent to the DSL White Sox, where he amassed a batting average of .310 with three home runs, fourteen RBIs, twenty-two walks, and twelve stolen bases in 28 games. He spent the next two years honing his skills in the minor leagues shifting between teams and leagues before ultimately making his debut on July 24, 2020.
During his rookie season, he was awarded the Gold Glove. Luis Robert Jr. had a remarkable 2023 seaon where he received his first Silver Slugger Award and was selected for his first All-Star game.

In an interesting turn of events, Robert Jr. along with Yoán Moncada were called up to the 2023 edition of the WBC. In the process they became the first active MLB players to play for Cuba after having defected.
