Nicknamed “Kots”, Mark Kotsay began his baseball career by playing varsity baseball at Santa Fe High School before attending and playing college baseball at California State University, Fullerton. Notably, the Florida Marlins drafted him in 1996 and made his team debut in MLB on July 11, 1997. He stayed with the Marlins until the 2000 season and later had tenures with the San Diego Padres (two tenures). Oakland Athletics, Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox and the Milwaukee Brewers. He retired as a baseball player after the 2013 season.

Post Kotsay’s playing career, he decided to use his experience in coaching players. He first joined the San Diego Padres as a special assistant in the front office in 2014 and became their new hitting hitting coach in December of the same year. The following year, Kotsay was hired by the Oakland Athletics as their bench coach and then as their quality control coach. He was promoted to be the new manager of the team from the 2022 season onwards and is presently in his third season with them.

Mark Kotsay is the only child of Steve Kotsay and Pam Kotsay.

Steve Kotsay used to work for the Los Angeles Police Department and spent 23 years as a motorcycle cop in the Los Angeles area. He is also a former softball player but had to retire due to injury.

Notably, Steve Kotsay Since their house was located in a place between the Angels Stadium and the Dodgers Stadium, father and son often used to go watch a Los Angeles Angels’ game courtesy of his father’s softball teammate who used to provide them with game tickets. Moreover, Steve had coached his son from the Little Leagues till his sophomore year in high school. Steve also sacrificed his free time to take his son to all kinds of sports like bicycle racing, basketball, baseball and football early in his life.

While on the other hand, the only thing known about his mother Pam Kotsay is that she used to drive Mark Kotsay to and from his baseball practice at the batting cages in Buena Park for five nights a week on her husband’s request.

Who is Mark Kotsay’s Wife?

Mark Kotsay is married to Jamie Kotsay, a former competitive softball player. Moreover, she also worked as a model with her modeling career taking her from South Beach, Florida, United States to Europe, where she lived in Italy for a year. She also lived alone in New York during some part of her life.

The couple first met while Mark Kotsay was playing for the Florida Marlins. She was initially cautious about dating baseball players, but after she went out on a few dates with Mark Kotsay, she changed her mind. This was followed by Mark Kotsay proposing to her during a Florida Marlins trip to Colorado which she accepted. They officially became husband and wife in 2000.
