Matthew Kent Olson is an American professional baseball first baseman. He is currently signed to the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played for the Oakland Athletics in the MLB. Born March 29, 1994, in Atlanta, to parents Scott and Lee Olson, he attended Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia. He has an older brother named Zach who played as a pitcher for the Harvard Crimson.

Olson was drafted by the Athletics in the first round of the 2012 MLB draft and made his MLB debut with them in 2016. After six seasons with the Athletics, he was traded to the Braves prior to the 2022 season. Olson has won two Gold Glove Awards, and three Fielding Bible Awards, and was an All-Star in 2021 and 2023. He was also the MLB home run and RBI leader in 2023.

He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife Nicole whom he married in November 2021. Olson has dedicated much of his spare time to extending his support with ReClif, a treatment and fitness center for people with autism. He was nominated for the Roberto Clemente Award for his tireless work in 2023.
