Matt Scott attended Joel Barlow High School in Redding, Connecticut, United States. There he played college baseball for the Joel Barlow Falcons, his high school team. He was notable for being declared as the Perfect Game Tournament All-American in 2019. Scott was also a four-time member of the All-Southwest Conference and the All-State First Team between 2019-2022.
