Born on December 21, 2004, in Bridgend, Wales, Max attended Franklin Community High School in Franklin, Indiana, where he played as an outfielder and pitcher on their team. The talented Max is already a potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 Major League Baseball draft after a hugely successful high school career. He most recently culminated his senior year batting .646 with six home runs, 33 RBIs, and 45 runs scored, while also being named the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year.

Max has also represented Team USA at the 2021 WBSC U-18 World Cup, helping lead them to a gold medal with a .294 batting average over eight games.

Max is the best prospect to come out of Indiana since Bryan Bullington went No. 1 overall in 2002. He is a viable candidate for the Pirates with the top pick, it will be interesting to see where he is headed. His sweet left-handed swing and a mature approach focusing on smoking line drives from gap to gap are sure to find multiple suitors in the upcoming draft.
