Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy made his much-awai'ted return to action for his team's series opener against the Seattle Mariners on Monday. Muncy's wife Kellie celebrated his return to the diamond with custom t-shirts.
Muncy was activated from the 60-day injured list ahead of the Dodgers' three-game series against the Mariners. The two-time All-Star was placed on the IL on May 17 and has been out of action since due to an oblique strain.
His wife Kellie posted pictures of the custom t-shirts in an Instagram story. The t-shirts came in different sizes with the flaming LA logo on the front and 'MUNCY" on the back.
Muncy and his wife started dating during their college days and got engaged in 2017. The All-Star slugger signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers the same year.
The two got married in Texas a year later and have been together ever since. They have two children together, a daughter (born July 23, 2021) and a son (born April 24, 2023).
Max Muncy makes instant impact on his much-anticipated return for Dodgers
Max Muncy's return on Monday showed what the Dodgers have been missing for more than two months. Muncy looked like he never missed a beat as he announced his return with a two-run home run off Yimi Garcia in the bottom of the seventh to give his team a 3-0 lead in a hard-fought contest.
Muncy's firepower is crucial for the team lower down the order, especially when the stacked trio of Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman has a quiet night.
While Muncy made a big impact on his return, Gavin Lux continued to rake as it was his solo home run that gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead before Muncy's blast that eventually sealed a 3-0 win.
The Dodgers now have the most wins in the MLB this season (74), overtaking the Philadelphia Phillies, the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles, who are all on 73 wins this season.
