The Minnesota Twins are one of the most popular teams in Major League Baseball (MLB). The team mainly competes in the Central Division of the American League. In the past, they had also participated in the West Division of the American League.

The beginning of the team started as the Washington Senators in Washington, United States. Then they renamed the team to the Minnesota Twins after relocating to Minnesota in 1961. The team has since then been the World Series Champions three times and also have won many other titles and acclaims in the MLB. Minnesota Twins History

The Minnesota Twins team was formed in 1901 in Washington, United States as the Washington Senators. The team continued to use this name to play its games in the MLB. Despite the team losing its games and even struggling in its initial season, they became the World Series Champions in 1924. Since then, the team continued its tradition of winning the game until the 1930s when the quality of the team’s production declined again. This even resulted in the team being the center of criticisms from the fans. Eventually, the team decided to relocate to Minnesota, United States.

The team arrived in Minnesota in 1961 and renamed themselves as the Minnesota Twins. They obtained the name of the team from the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, thus representing both of them and putting an end to the long rivalry between both these cities. The fans of both these cities eagerly welcomed the team which at that time consisted of many new faces. The team has greatly improved their play and continued rebuilding their team through the 1960s. Unfortunately, their performances turned mediocre again in the 1970s. They would again become the World Series Champions in 1987. The year 1991 saw the team become the World Series Champions for the 3rd time. After this, the team would not fare better until the 2000s.

During the 2000s, the Minnesota Twins continued with their on-again-off-again performance. This resulted in the team winning division titles, creating new rivalries with other teams and even signed many talented players on their roster. They had some of the best seasons of their career in 2006. Unfortunately, during the 2008 and 2009 seasons, the team struggled to maintain their brilliant performance from the 2006 season. They had complained that the absence of a modern equipped stadium for the team prevented them from being competitive and good. This led to the team moving into a stadium, the Target Field in 2010.

Once the Minnesota Twins started playing in the new stadium, their performance greatly improved. This also culminated in them winning their second AL Central title. This was again followed by a period of decline for the Minnesota Twins. The team bounced back in the 2015 season with a good season. Following this, the team would go on to win their 3rd AL Central Division title in 2019.

In the present times, the Minnesota Twins have had a disastrous performance throughout the 2000, 2001 and 2002 seasons. Nevertheless, they rectified themselves by becoming the AL Central Division Champions in the 2023 season.

Minnesota Twins Owner

The Minnesota Twins team is owned by the Pohlad family mainly by Carl Ray Pohlad. Born on August 23, 1915 in Valley Junction, Iowa, United States, he was a financier from America who started his career in the business of banking.

Carl Pohlad became the owner of the Minnesota Twins in 1984. Under his ownership and guidance, the team became the World Series Champions in 1987 and 1991. However, he also tried to sell off the team on a number of different occasions which resulted in failure. He died of natural causes on January 5, 2009. Since then, his sons Jim Pohlad, Bill Pohlad and Bob Pohlad became the owners, supervisors of the day to day operations of the team. However, Jim Pohlad has served as the public face of the team and attended the meetings of the team as the owner. After serving as the owner of the team for a long time, he gave his nephew Joe Pohlad the ownership of the team on November 29, 2022.

Following this, the Minnesota Twins team started referring to the entire Pohlad family as the team’s owner.

The Minnesota Twins players have also developed their one home and road jerseys to make themselves recognizable to their fans. Their current home jerseys consist of white colored buttoned down shirts and pants. There is a navy blue Nike logo on the upper left side of the jersey. Below this, the logo of the team “Twins” with an underline appears across the chest of the jersey in red color. The jersey number appears on the bottom right of the jersey in navy blue color. The back of the jersey also has the player;s name in navy blue color along with the jersey number below it in red. The sleeves of the jersey have navy blue pipes around the cuffs. The road jersey of the Minnesota Twins consists of buttoned down gray colored shirts and pants with gray pinstripes. The pants also have pipes running down in red, blue and white. There is a red colored Nike logo on the upper left side of the jersey. Below this, the word “Minnesota” appears in navy blue color across the chest of the jersey. The jersey number appears below it in red color. The back of the jersey has the player name in navy blue with the player number below it red. The cuffs of the sleeves also has red, blue and white pipes. The same logo of the state of Minnesota appears on one of the sleeves of the jersey. The caps are the same navy blue colored as the home jersey with red and white “TC” in front. The helmets are navy blue colored with a white “M” and a red star above it in front of the jersey.
