American professional baseball catcher Mitch Garver was born on January 15, 1991, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and currently plays catcher for the Texas Rangers in Major League Baseball (MLB).

He went to Alburquerque's La Cueva High School. There, he used to play soccer and baseball. Because of Garver's reputation as a gifted center back for the school team, his coach suggested that he move to the UK to pursue his soccer career at a European academy. But he turned down the offer and went back to baseball. He was signed by the Minnesota Twins in the 2013 MLB drafts. He made his Major League debut with on August 19, 2017 with the Twins.

For Garver’s spectacular performance, he was awarded the Silver Slugger Award in 2019. Garver is well-known for his unusual catching stance, which resembles Tony Peña's in that he always keeps one knee on the ground. After the 2018 season, Garver worked with Bill Evers and Tanner Swanson to develop a posture that would assist his catching with lower pitches. Garver struggled with pitch framing in the early portion of his major league career, particularly in catching low strikes.
