MLB All-Star games are held each year for Major League Baseball's best players from both the National League and American League; there is a lot of excitement going into these games since they attract top talent for competitive matches. Each year, fans, players, and coaches eagerly await the opportunity to witness some of the top sports personalities competing in the same game.

How does the All-Star team work?

The selected players that play in baseball games are the MLB All-Star players for the All-Star game event. It is during this selection process that fans kick-start how starters of the MLB All-Star Game are chosen. Fans elect their favourite players at different playing positions in two phases.

During Phase 1 they choose who they would prefer from all possible lines of duty, whereas in Phase 2- the All-Star Ballot Finals- they are to select only among those who have made it through the first stage as finalists on top list 2 in each playing position.

A combination of player votes and selections by the Commissioner's Office fills the remaining 23 roster spots per league once the starters have been determined. Players vote for 17 positions, including eight pitchers and nine backups for each. In order to make sure that all teams are represented, the Commissioner’s Office then picks an additional six players and this rule ensures that every club has at least one All-Star.

If a player selected to take part in the All-Star Game gets injured or fails to play, then the league picks substitute(s) based on the next players in line in terms of votes. This is done to make sure there is balance as well as fairness in selecting the best players at the moment for the All-Star Game, by choosing starting pitchers among others eight innings before game time.

How does All-Star voting work?

The MLB All-Star voting system is used to determine which players will represent their respective leagues in the annual All-Star Game. Its fans play a significant part in it because they are enabled to vote on their best players who would then start the game.

The voting usually starts towards the end of April or the beginning of May and goes on for quite a long time enabling the supporters to cast their votes on the best players who should be in the All-Star Game. There is an online platform where fans can make their votes via the MLB website while others can place them at any ballpark within the nation.

Furthermore, every franchise has permission to send its own vote form where coaches together with the players themselves vote for reserves that complete the All-Star squad.

The top vote-getters at every position in both leagues become starters after the voting time ends; the other rosters are a combination of fan, player, and coach selections so that the top players in every league can showcase their performance during the All-Star Game.
