After an eight-early spell without playoff baseball, the Los Angeles Angels will try anything. The club has decided to make a change and is going with a new-look for the 2023 season.

The Samurai home run helmet was seen on three-time MVP Mike Trout after his two-run home run versus the Toronto Blue Jays. It is a stark difference from the cowboy hat that the players went with last season.

For now, the helmet seems to be working for Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels. The 10-time All-Star has recorded home runs in each of his opening home games. His two-run shot against the Blue Jays on Friday saw him crowned with the helmet for the first time. He followed that up with a three-run shot on Saturday.

MLB fans took to Twitter to breakdown this new and unique tradition that has gone viral.

Fans loved the Japanese Kabuto Sumurai helmet. The lavish piece is a major upgrade to the cowboy hat from last season.

One fan credited Ohtani's influence on the club's dugout. Another called this the "best home run celebration ever."

The Los Angeles Angels have added some serious pieces to their roster over the offseason. Led by Trout and Ohtani's fine form, the club is currently first in the American League West with a 5-3 record.

Trout has been expectional during the opening eight games. He has a .346/.528/.769 slah line and an excpetional 1.297 OPS. The powerful righty has already recorded three home runs and eight RBI's on the season.

Ohtani is also off to a strong start with two home runs and six RBIs this season. He has a .321 batting average and a 1.031 OPS.

There is no doubting that Shohei Ohtani had a role to play in the latest change. He is the one who suggested the samurai helmet. The old way wasn't working so the Japanese superstar decided a new look was necessary. Hopefully, the helmet can be a turning point for a franchise that is desperate for a winning season.
