Liam Hendriks was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma over the offseason and was unable to begin the season with the Chicago White Sox.
Now, he's inching closer to a return as he shared the latest update that he's working his way back to baseball and will be re-joining the White Sox bullpen soon.

It's safe to say that everyone loves this update, but baseball fans are particularly pleased with the fact that one of baseball's most electric relievers could return soon.
Hendriks doesn't have a timetable for a return just yet, but the White Sox opted not to put him on the 60-day IL, so he's coming back sooner than that. There's no word on when he'll begin a rehabilitation assignment or anything of that nature yet, but this is still tremendous news.
Liam Hendriks posts incredible update on social media
Liam Hendriks shared the monumental update on Instagram:
"These past 5 months have been both the quickest and slowest of my life. Being able to ring this victory bell has been one of the most emotional things I’ve ever done. I cannot thank my team of doctors and nurses enough for coming up with the best medical plan for me. No words can express the gratitude I have for them saving my life."

He continued:
"To my wife: You came to every single appointment. You held my hand every step of the way. You were my voice of confidence and always made sure I felt loved and safe throughout it all. I love you."
He finished:
"To family, friends and fans: Your support kept me going. You kept me in the right frame of mind to beat this. Your encouragement made a bigger difference than you will ever know. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Survival rates for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma vary, but overcoming it in this short of a timeframe is nothing short of spectacular. The White Sox haven't gotten off to an incredible start thus far in 2023, so they could use their reliever back soon.
