The Philadelphia Phillies headline an action-packed day in regards to MLB injury updates. The club will be without two of their biggest stars for the foreseeable future. Although the Phillies have received some negative news in terms of injury updates, some other teams have received some encouraging information.

MLB Injury Updates for June 28

Bryce Harper

Bryce Harper headlines today's list of MLB injury updates. The Philadelphia Phillies superstar has been placed on the 10-day IL with a left hamstring strain. Harper suffered the injury on Thursday while running out a ground ball. The two-time MVP could face a minimal stint on the IL as the team announced that the strain is considered low-grade.

Kyle Schwarber

Harper is not the only Phillies star who was placed on the IL on Friday. Veteran slugger Kyle Schwarber will join Harper on the 10-day IL after suffering a left groin strain. On a positive note, much like Harper, Schwarber could return to the lineup as soon as he is eligible.

Sandy Alcantara

Finally time for some positivity on this MLB injury updates list. The Miami Marlins have been without their top pitcher Sandy Alcantara, who is currently recovering from Tommy John Surgery. While Alcantara is not expected to pitch this season, he has been increasing the intensity of his current throwing program.

Lars Nootbaar

The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that outfielder Lars Nootbaar will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Springfield. Nootbaar has missed nearly a month with an oblique injury after straining in while checking his swing at the end of May.

Luis Garcia

The Houston Astros have announced that starting pitcher Luis Garcia will head out on a rehab assignment. Garcia continues to work his way back from Tommy John Surgery and is expected to continue ramping up his activity until possibly being activated after the All-Star break.

Mike Tauchman

Chicago Cubs outfielder Mike Tauchman appeared on a recent episode of Foul Territory to discuss his ongoing groin injury. The veteran said that he has been feeling good for over a week and is optimistic that he could be back sooner rather than later.
