The second half of the MLB season has just started and many teams have provided significant injury updates on some of their sidelined stars. Although one of today's injury updates provides news of a player who may miss some time, the others are positive information about some of the league's top players working their way back to their respective lineups.
MLB Injury Updates for July 23

Mike Trout
Mike Trout is tending toward a return to the Los Angeles Angels lineup as he is slated to begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake City. It is a massive step for the future Hall of Famer who is working his way back from a torn meniscus.
It remains to be seen how many games Trout will need to play. However, the fact that he is beginning a rehab assignment is a major step for the superstar.
Julio Rodriguez
On Sunday night, Seattle Mariners star Julio Rodriguez was forced to exit the game after crashing into the outfield wall while attempting to chase down a fly ball. Although he was taken out of the game and remained absent from Monday's matchup against the Los Angeles Angels, according to MLB insider Ryan Divish, he is currently listed as day-to-day with a mild ankle sprain.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto
The Los Angeles Dodgers have received positive injury updates about a number of sidelined pitchers this week, including Clayton Kershaw and Tyler Glasnow. The team has now received positive information on injured star Yoshinobu Yamamoto as the rookie ramped up his throwing program distance to 180-200 feet. The Japanese sensation hopes to return before the end of the year.
Cody Bellinger
It may still be some time before Cody Bellinger returns to the lineup. However, the Chicago Cubs star has continued to recover from his fractured left middle finger. MLB insider Bruce Levine provided an injury update on Bellinger, saying he has been hitting without much discomfort. However, gripping the baseball is still a lingering issue for the Cubs star.

Tommy Edman
The St. Louis Cardinals could soon receive some much-needed reinforcements as utilityman Tommy Edman is slated to resume a rehab assignment on Wednesday. Edman had started rehab earlier in July. However, lingering ankle soreness forced the team to sit the 29-year-old to give him additional rest. Now, Edman will continue with Double-A Springfield as he works his way back to the lineup.
