As the weekend rapidly approaches, clubs across the MLB have given injury updates regarding some of their star players. Even though 2024 has been an exciting season, it has also been defined by the health of some of the league's biggest stars. This week is no different as news about several players has been shared by their clubs.

MLB Injury Updates for June 26

#1. Max Scherzer

After opening the season on the 60-day IL, Texas Rangers star Max Scherzer finally returned to the mound. Scherzer was impressive during his first start of the 2024 campaign, racking up 4 strikeouts over 5.0 innings of work.

Unfortunately for Scherzer, he was pulled from the game earlier than expected with a sore thumb. Although there were questions about his thumb, the latest injury update for Scherzer has him listed as probable to make his next start on Friday.

#2. Gleyber Torres

To say that Gleyber Torres is polarizing among Yankees fans would be an understatement. It's been a difficult season for the infielder on both offense and defense. According to New York manager Aaron Boone, Gleyber is dealing with a groin/quad issue, which is reportedly the reason why he has not been running at full speed. This injury update will not likely help his standing with fans.

#3. Bryan Woo

The Seattle Mariners placed young starter Bryan Woo on the 15-day IL with a right hamstring strain. It's a disappointing turn of events for the 24-year-old who is looking to establish himself in the big leagues. Woo said that the results of an MRI indicate that his strain is “low-level," however, he remains without a timeline for his return to the mound.

#4. Zac Gallen

Unlike Bryan Woo, it appears that there is a plan for Arizona Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen. The injured ace is reportedly on track to return to the mound this Saturday against the Oakland Athletics. Unless Gallen suffers a setback, a game against the lowly A's is an ideal matchup for his first start since hitting the IL on May 30.

#5. Triston Casas

The Boston Red Sox could soon receive reinforcements as first baseman Triston Casas could make a major step in his recovery. According to manager Alex Cora, Casas could soon begin hitting in the cage, which is a major step forward in his recovery from a rib fracture he suffered back in April. This Casas injury update could affect how the Boston Red Sox approach this year's trade deadline as well.
