With the MLB All-Star break right around the corner, clubs have been providing injury updates regarding some of their players. Since the All-Star break will provide players and teams with extra time off, clubs could look to give some of their ailing stars an extended break. That being said, a number of stars are continuing to work their way back from injury in the hopes of returning soon after the All-Star break.
MLB Injury Updates for July 12
#1. Jordan Montgomery

Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo provided injury updates on a number of the team's sidelined pitchers. Lovullo said that Jordan Montgomery, Merrill Kelly, Eduardo Rodriguez and Drey Jameson will all throw bullpen sessions this weekend. There is a chance that Montgomery could return after the All-Star break.
#2. Ian Anderson
Atlanta Braves starter Ian Anderson will continue his rehab assignment this Friday, moving up to Double-A Rome from the team's Single-A team. The move is a major step for Anderson who is working his way back from Tommy John Surgery. There is a chance that Anderson could rejoin the Braves' rotation soon after the All-Star break.
#3. Luis Garcia
Houston Astros manager Joe Espada provided an injury update on Luis Garcia, who has been building himself up for a potential return this season. The starting pitcher was slated to throw a bullpen session on Friday, however, he only played catch. Espada said that the team is continuing to take a cautionary approach to Garcia's recovery from Tommy John Surgery.
#4. J.D. Davis
The New York Yankees have announced that veteran infielder J.D. Davis has been placed on the 10-day IL with the stomach flu. The third baseman has not appeared in a game since July 4 but will be eligible to return soon after the All-Star break. Jorbit Vivas has been recalled to replace him on the roster.
