As the dust settles on another MLB Trade Deadline Day we look back at the biggest news that grabbed the attention of the baseball fraternity on Tuesday. From roster moves to gameday updates, here are the biggest takeaways from another busy day of baseball:
#1 Jackson Holliday gets a second crack with Baltimore Orioles
According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Baltimore Orioles are reportedly keen to recall baseball no.1 prospect Jackson Holliday to the senior team for a second time this season.
Holliday, who made his MLB debut earlier this season, was sent back to AAA after a torrid time at the plate. In his first stint with the senior team, the 20-year-old went 2-for-34 with 18 strikeouts in 10 games.
The rookie sensation is expected to replace Connor Norby at second base as Norby was sent to the Miami Marlins in a deal to acquire starting pitcher Trevor Rogers.
#2 Dodgers stunned by Padres' remarkable comeback win
Although the Dodgers avoided a sweep against the Astros, Dave Roberts' seat has come under scrutiny yet again after Tuesday's result. The Dodgers squandered a five-run lead against their division rivals, the San Diego Padres, for a frustrating loss in the series opener.
Roberts' team was in pole position for the majority of the game after a five-run first inning. However, the Dodgers bullpen didn't back a solid outing from Tyler Glasnow as the Padres tied the game in the bottom ninth before walking it off in the tenth.
The NL East leader's erratic performances off late have increased the pressure on the Dodgers manager, who seems unable to inspire his injury-riddled team at the moment.
#3 Jazz Chisholm Jr. makes history in clutch Yankees win
The New York Yankees have found another hero in former Miami Marlins slugger Jazz Chisholm Jr. Much like Juan Soto earlier in the season, Chisholm Jr. has wasted no time hitting the ground running in pinstripes.
The All-Star slugger came in clutch for the Yankees in a thrilling contest on Tuesday night against the Phillies, registering a second consecutive multi-homer game for the Bronx Bombers in a dramatic come-from-behind win.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. became the first Yankees player and only the second MLB player in history to register four home runs in his first three games for a new franchise. His historic night saw the Yankees complete a dramatic win in 12 innings to claim a second consecutive series win.
