Now just weeks away from the end of the MLB regular season, there have been some surprises throughout the season on the pitching front with new arms stepping up and veterans having bounceback seasons.
These next starts are going to be critical with little time remaining in the regular season. Some teams will depend on their aces the rest of the way out. Here's a closer look at which pitchers may rise this week, and where they stack up against each other in Week 25.
MLB Pitchers Power Rankings Predictions - Week 25
#10. Logan Gilbert
Logan Gilbert is in the middle of a rough stretch. While losing his last three starts, he only gave up six earned runs. He has not gotten the offensive support he has been looking for but is still a top arm in the league.
#9. Shota Imanaga
Shota Imanaga has largely been impressive in his first MLB season with the Chicago Cubs. He has made 27 starts, compiling a 13-3 record with a 3.03 ERA on 160.1 innings of work.
#8. Cole Ragans
Cole Ragans has been great for the Kansas City Royals this season. He has made 30 starts, putting together an 11-9 record with a 3.32 ERA, but is not the only KC pitcher on this list.
#7. Jack Flaherty
Jack Flaherty was great with the Detroit Tigers, and that has continued after being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He will continue to be a big part of their rotation as they close out the regular season.
#6. Paul Skenes
Paul Skenes has been electric during his first season in the MLB. The hard-throwing rookie now has 10 wins under his belt and has a very bright future ahead of him.
#5. Seth Lugo
Seth Lugo has been elite this season. The nine-year veteran is in the middle of his best season, by far. He has compiled a 16-8 record with a 2.94 ERA on 193 innings pitched.
With the help of Lugo, the Royals are in the mix to be in the postseason this year. They currently hold the second Wild Card spot in the American League.
#4. Framber Valdez
Framber Valdez is back to being the dependable starter the Houston Astros have needed this year. He has been rolling as of late, winning his last three games, and will look to continue that the rest of the way out.
#3. Zack Wheeler
Zack Wheeler has been a workhorse for the Philadelphia Phillies this season. He has certainly been worth the three-year extension he signed earlier this season, and Philadelphia has run away with the NL East.
#2. Tarik Skubal
Tarik Skubal has been nothing short of excellent this year. He leads all MLB pitchers with 16 wins and 214 strikeouts. Detroit will depend on him largely to try and grab the last AL Wild Card spot.
#1. Chris Sale
Chris Sale is on fire and a big reason why the Atlanta Braves are still in the mix for a playoff spot after losing Spencer Strider. He leads all pitchers with his 2.38 ERA and eye-popping 0.4 HR9.
Sale has all but locked up the NL Cy Young Award If he does win it at the end of the season, it will be the first of his MLB career, which is surprising given his dominance years ago.
