MLB The Show 23 New Captains: Legends who will lead theme teams, 'Tall Kings', 'Short Kings', '50 Homers', and more

New captains for MLB The Show 23 were released on Friday. Fans can now check out the new legends who will lead the theme teams in the baseball simulation game.

Here, we take a look at the different theme teams and captains for each side that were released in MLB The Show 23:

• High Stamina Relievers Captain - Rollie Fingers
• Venezuela Team Captain - Salvador Perez
• 1970s and 80s Captain - Johnny Bench
• 50 Homers Captain - Sammy Sosa
• Short Kings Captain - Joe Morgan
• Tall Kings Captain - Randy Johnson
• Arm Accuracy Captain - Mookie Betts
• Durability Captain - Cal Ripken

Of all the new eight captains that are introduced in MLB The Show 23, only Salvador Perez and Mookie Betts are active players in the MLB.

Rollie Fingers won three World Series titles with the Oakland Athletics during his time in the league. The pitcher also played for the San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers before retiring in 1985.

Johnny Bench played his entire MLB career with the Cincinnati Reds from 1967 through 1983. The catcher won two World Series titles with the team.

Sammy Sosa played 19 seasons in the MLB primarily with the Chicago Cubs. He also spent time with the Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles.

Joe Morgan played 22 seasons in the MLB and won two World Series titles with the Cincinnati Reds. He also played for the Houston Colt .45s / Astros, San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies and Oakland Athletics. Sadly, Morgan passed away on Oct. 11, 2020.

Randy Johnson played 22 seasons in the MLB for six teams, including the Montreal Express, Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks, Houston Astros, San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees. He won the World Series with the Diamondbacks in 2001.

Cal Ripken played 21 seasons in the MLB with the Baltimore Orioles. He won the World Series with the team in 1983.
