The Detroit Tigers are not viewed as postseason contenders at this point of the year, however, they do sit close to a .500 record at 51-53 as of Thursday. That being said, the team is expected to be sellers as the MLB Trade Deadline rapidly approaches.
There are a number of intriguing players on the Detroit Tigers roster who would undoubtedly draw interest across the MLB. As the team continues to build its young assets, its most likely trade candidates would be some of its aging veterans or players on expiring contracts. It will be an interesting trade deadline for the Tigers and one worth keeping an eye on.
Here is a look at three players that the Detroit Tigers might move before the MLB Trade Deadline
Mark Canha
At 35 years old, Mark Canha's best days might be behind him, however, he is certainly a proven veteran who could help a number of contending teams this season. The outfielder is in the final year of his current contract, so he would be an optimal rental option for teams looking to bolster their offensive depth.

Jack Flaherty
Jack Flaherty might be enjoying the most successful bounce-back season of anyone in the MLB. The veteran pitcher has turned back the clock with Detroit, posting an impressive 2.95 ERA over 106.2 innings. Like Canha, Flaherty is in the final year of his current deal and could be a coveted arm for nearly every contender heading into the postseason.
Tarik Skubal
This is the big one! Tarik Skubal is currently a frontrunner for the American League Cy Young Award and is having easily the best season of his career. If the Detroit Tigers do decide to move on from their ace, the return package could be franchise-altering.
"This is what @Joelsherman1 thinks the Orioles would have to give up to get Tarik Skubal and Jason Foley. What do you think?" - @MLBNetwork
One of the potential trade deals that has been floating around has been sending Tarik Skubal to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for top prospect Jackson Holliday. While unproven, Holliday could be a key building block for the Tigers for years to come, whereas Skubal could be the missing piece to an Orioles World Series title.
