The Minnesota Twins could likely find themselves as buyers by the time the MLB Trade Deadline rolls around on July 30th. As of Wednesday, the Twins are in control of one of the American League Wild Card spots, however, there are several teams within reach.
To accomplish its goal of reaching the postseason, the club will need to bolster its current roster and address some weaknesses.
3 players the Minnesota Twins could acquire before the MLB Trade Deadline
Yusei Kikuchi
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi is someone the Twins could look to land to bolster their pitching rotation. While the Twins have proven talent at the top of their rotation such as Pablo Lopez, the team will need to add more arms if it hopes to make a deep postseason run.
"Nothing but love for the city of Toronto from Yusei Kikuchi" - @Sportsnet
While Yusei Kikuchi has been in a slump recently, he is the type of veteran arm the team could look to add. An unrestricted free agent at the end of the year, Kikuchi is one of the most intriguing rental arms on the market.
Nathan Eovaldi
Another veteran pitcher who could be available is Texas Rangers starter Nathan Eovaldi. The World Series champions have been in a prolonged slump all season and it appears the team will look to move some of its aging players. Eovaldi, like Kikuchi, would provide the Twins with a proven arm with postseason experience.
Jazz Chisholm Jr.
The Minnesota Twins and Miami Marlins have made many deals over the years, so why rule out another one? The Twins could use an offensive boost, especially considering the health concerns among some of their most talented players, including Royce Lewis.
"This swing by Jazz Chisholm Jr." - @BBGreatMoments
While Jazz Chisholm Jr. is far from perfect, he would add a level of energy to the Minnesota Twins' lineup and could help it secure a spot in the postseason. The Marlins could be sellers and Jazz is expected to be available.
